Assess Yourself/Finding Direction – What can I do?

"I don't KNOW what kind of job I want!" This workshop assesses your transferable skills, your self-management skills and your values. It also explores how to research the field you may be interested in giving you websites and information that you can do on your own. Finally, there is a list of assessments that you can take for further self evaluation.

Getting Unstuck

There are times when many job seekers feel stuck in their job search.  After weeks of sending out resumes, networking, and interviewing with no discernable results, they wonder, “where do I go from here?” Unfortunately, some job seekers seem to give up completely.

Many companies no long accept paper application and resumes; To be ready for online job application you’ll find some useful tools to apply for a job online.

Dealing with Job Loss/Surviving a Layoff

No matter what circumstances led to the loss of your last job…it is a loss!  So much of YOUR IDENTITY is related to the work you did and the people with whom you associated on a daily basis.  You have either dealt with or are no doubt dealing with many feelings and life changes after this loss. But there is life after job loss!

Our objective for this presentation is to address…

·          The importance of dealing with feelings associated with job loss

·          The importance of taking care of yourself after a job loss and while job searching

·          Concrete ways to move forward in your job search

·          Resources for addressing identified needs

Making connections and building relationships  Building a network requires time and a commitment to helping others.  Contacts may be immediate, but a relationship can be established and built only over time.  The potential to build begins with the first introduction and requires the investment of time and energy for follow-up.

Attend this workshop to learn some useful salary negotiation techniques.  You CAN earn the salary you want.

Perfecting Your Digital Resume

Many employers require applicants to submit digital resumes via cyberspace (meaning email or web based submittals).

The material presented provides helpful information to jobseekers in understanding the major differences between the Traditional Resume versus the Digital Resume formats.

Additionally, the information is for jobseekers to understand why their electronic resume may not be receiving the attention of cyberspace.

Polishing Your Professional Image/Dress for Success

How you look supports your professional “credibility”.  In some industries customer contact and image presented to the customer is critical.  Dress up for the interview even if most of the employees dress casually on a day to day basis.  Don’t confuse your professional dress with “party” or “date” attire.
