Why do I need to meet with a Career Coach?

A one-on-one meeting with a Career Coach helps customers to determine goals and steps needed to reach employment.  During these meetings, the NCAC Career Coach uses questionnaires and interview techniques to identify the customer's work history, skill level, educational level, and any barriers that need to be addressed such as criminal history, lack of transportation, etc.

After the initial meeting, a Career Coach helps the customer to develop a plan and will direct them to additional resources such as the MBTI, Strong and WorkKeys.  Customers with identified barriers are also directed to community service providers for further assistance addressing each barrier.

At NCAC, we are dedicated to providing a full-range of services to our customers.  Our focus on assessments allows customers to identify and learn about themselves in the following areas:

  • Personality

  • Strengths

  • Challenges

  • Interests (Career, Occupational, Educational)

  • Aptitudes in basic skill areas

  • Barriers

  • Other, as needed

We believe it is important for each customer to have the full picture of himself/herself before making an important career or educational decision.
