Contracted Agencies
All program services for our area (Davidson, Rutherford,
Trousdale, and Wilson counties) have been contracted out
to three different providers:

Mid-Cumberland Human Resource Agency
Provides
services for Davidson, Rutherford, and Trousdale
Counties.
·
Wilson County Schools
provides services for Wilson
County
·
Pencil Foundation The Pencil Foundation
provides in-school services for Davidson County.
Services
Program Providers will be offering the following
services. Every young person will not receive every
service. Based on an individualized assessment, it will
be determined which services are applicable to the young
person.
1.
Tutoring, study skills and activities leading to
drop-out prevention,
2.
Alternative secondary school offerings,
3.
Summer employment linked directly to academic and
occupational learning,
4.
Paid and unpaid work experiences,
5.
Occupational skills training,
6.
Leadership development opportunities,
7.
Supportive services,
8.
Adult mentoring,
9.
Follow-up services, and
10.
Comprehensive guidance and counseling as
appropriate.
Eligibility
The program will serve 14 to 21 year-olds who are
economically disadvantaged and who have one or more
barriers. For a complete list, see barriers.
Eligible Youth
1.
An individual who is not less than 14 and not
more than 21 years of age and is a low income
individual; and
2.
Is an individual who is one or more of the
following:
3.
Deficient in basic literacy skills;
4.
A school dropout
5.
Homeless, a runaway, or a foster child;
6.
Pregnant or a parent;
7.
An offender
8.
An individual who requires additional assistance
to complete an educational program, or to secure and
hold employment
Out of School
1.
An eligible youth is a school dropout; or
2.
An eligible youth who has received a secondary
school diploma or its equivalent but is basic skills
deficient, unemployed, or underemployed. |
